Tactical Response Unleashed (TRU) recently announce the launch of its Sheepdog Warrior Classes, a series of classes designed to help civilians obtain concealed handgun permits. This month, classes are 50% off of the regular price of $ 300- which is a reduced total of $ 150.
The Sheepdog Warrior Classes consist of 18 hours of training over a period of six weeks. During the classes, students will learn the basics of handgun operation and safety techniques required to carry a concealed handgun permit in the state of Virginia.
Participants will begin the course in a classroom environment, and learn the logistics of how to handle a weapon safely while being made aware of the physiological changes that occur in a gunfight including tactical breathing, tunnel vision, memory loss and more.
The instructors will also focus on improving ones' psychological mindset while handling a weapon including decision making skills and legal consequences of their actions.
"I believe that if you are going to arm yourself with a weapon, you should also arm yourself with the knowledge and skills to handle the weapon with both competence and confidence," says TRU owner Bill Garrahan. "The decision to carry a weapon has legal, moral and psychological consequences; and, we want people to give consideration to these aspects."
TRU teaches Sheepdog tactics in a martial arts facility where students practice various weapon disarm and retention skills.
TRU also has a proprietary targeting system that utilizes a threat and non-threat scenario, which challenges participants to exercise a shoot or don't-shoot mentality. This is the only system of its kind where the targets shoot back.
Additionally, all courses are taught by NRA certified instructors, most of which are active or former military or law enforcement.
Interested participants can sign up by phone or e-mail. After the class, they'll receive a certificate of completion what will allow them to apply for a concealed handgun permit in Virginia. They still must pass the background check once they apply to the Clerk of the Court in the city or county of residence.
"The sheepdog is a warrior, a protector of the flock. The sheepdog is prepared, both mentally and physically, through proper training to engage any threat, anytime, anywhere," said Garrahan
